So much wine … too little time

Sweet

Tasting a good sweet or dessert wine (why wait for pudding?) can be like tasting a little piece of heaven.  Many pay little attention to it but those that have made the exciting discovery, keep coming back for more.  The advent of the half bottle has also helped with its popularity.

It’s a little restrictive to keep it to the end of a meal. It can be the most perfect accompaniment to a wide range of starters including goat’s cheese and foie gras. Certain desserts (not chocolate) do cry out for a sweet wine.  At one tasting, a soon to be bride knew instantly that a botrytis Reisling was a must to accompany her luscious vanilla cheesecake.  It’s also the perfect foil to ice cream and a must with certain cheeses.

Chateau d’Yquem Sauternes, particularly the 2001, is one of our sweetest indulgences but we do have something to appeal to every pudding, taste and pocket.
